Defending Voting Rights

Across the country, our voting rights are under attack. Here in Arizona, extremist Republicans are even trying to prevent us from voting by mail despite a majority of Arizonans voting this way for decades. Early and mail-in voting are a popular practice and Republicans want to change the rules to prevent you from voting––we can’t let them win.

In the State House, I stood up to far-right attempts to overturn the 2020 election and I’ve led the fight to protect our vote-by-mail system.

This year, national Republicans passed troubling voter ID legislation including the SAVE Act that could disenfranchise women who have changed their names at marriage and those without a passport. We need federal action like the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to safeguard our elections, ensure vote-by-mail remains accessible, and stop the targeted disenfranchisement of communities of color. Nothing is more sacred or more important in the fight to defend our democracy than the right to vote, and I will continue to work to make voting more accessible for all Arizonans.
