Gun Violence Prevention

As a survivor of the 2011 Tucson shooting that killed 6 and injured 13, I know firsthand the consequences of failing to stop the epidemic of gun violence in our country. It’s time to stand up to the NRA and fight back against complacency on gun violence prevention to make our communities safer.

After surviving the shooting, I dedicated my life to advocating for common-sense gun safety reforms, working alongside President Obama to push for universal background checks. Earlier in my career, I was the State Director for Everytown for Gun Safety – advocating for common-sense gun violence solutions at the state legislature and with local officials. As a survivor, I bring a deeply personal perspective to this fight—one that’s grounded in urgency and experience. In Congress, I’ll work to close the gun show loophole, pass red flag laws, and ensure we’re doing everything possible to keep guns out of the hands of those who pose a danger to themselves or others.
