Combatting the Climate Crisis

Climate change affects every aspect of our lives, especially in Southern Arizona. From the economy to social justice to public health. We are already experiencing the effects of climate change, with Central and Southern Arizona’s main sources of water becoming increasingly threatened each year, and national parks and monuments, including our Grand Canyon and AZ-07’s very own Saguaro National Park, are being threatened by Donald Trump’s reckless policies. In Congress, I will fight for investments in renewable energy development and water conservation technology to combat this crisis while creating good-paying, union jobs. Additionally, I will work to protect federally protected lands whose protected status have been threatened by Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans. I will also work with state and local leaders to ensure our groundwater is protected from special interests who are using up water supplies that our farmers and rural communities rely on.

We need leaders who are willing to boldly address the climate crisis and fight back against the status quo. Donald Trump has already undermined President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, the largest climate investment in U.S. history, and critical parts like tax credits for solar and electric vehicles are at risk. The results we’ve already achieved at the state level and in cities like Tucson with solar energy illustrate that an economy that is more resilient to climate change can also be one that creates better-paying jobs and sets up Arizona for decades of economic growth, and limits and reduces carbon emissions. When elected, I will work to protect these advancements passed by Congressional Democrats and by the Biden-Harris Administration.
