Tucson, Arizona – Today, Daniel Hernandez earned the endorsement of the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, a leading voice for skilled trade workers and carpenters across Arizona.
Hernandez is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives and former President of the Sunnyside School Board. As a legislator, he was a vocal advocate for working families, a proud card-carrying member of the American Federation of Teachers Local 8002, and a consistent ally to organized labor.
In Congress, Hernandez will work to end “right to work” laws and push for the passage of the bipartisan PRO Act to protect workers’ rights to organize. He will also fight back against Donald Trump’s dangerous rollback of worker safety protections, including the paused OSHA rulemaking to address extreme heat and unsafe job conditions.
Fabian Sandez, President, Local 1912 Arizona, the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, released the following statement:
“Daniel Hernandez stands shoulder-to-shoulder with working people. He understands the challenges that Arizona’s construction workers face, and he’s a consistent advocate for fair wages, strong apprenticeship programs, and union rights. The Arizona Carpenters’ Union is proud to endorse Daniel because we know he’ll fight for us in Congress just like he fights for us in Arizona.”
Daniel Hernandez responded to the endorsement:
“I’m incredibly proud to have the support of the Carpenters. These are the men and women who literally build our communities—from homes to schools to infrastructure—and they deserve a partner in Congress who will fight for good-paying jobs, safe worksites, and real investments in the skilled trades. I’m ready to be that partner.”
The Western States Regional Council of Carpenters represents thousands of members across Arizona and the western U.S., advocating for union rights, high-quality training, and strong wages and benefits for skilled trades workers.
