Tucson, Arizona – Today, Daniel Hernandez earned the endorsement of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET) Division 28.
Hernandez is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives and former President of the Sunnyside School Board. As a member of the Arizona State House, he was a strong advocate for working people and union members, and he is a proud card-carrying member of the American Federation of Teachers Local 8002.
In Congress, Hernandez will support ending “right to work” laws and work to pass the bipartisan PRO Act, which aims to strengthen labor protections. He will also fight Trump’s pause on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s rulemaking that would require protections for workers facing extreme heat and other unsafe conditions.
Edward M. Strom, Secretary/Treasurer of the BLET Arizona State Legislative Board and President & Legislative Representative of BLET Division 28, released the following statement:
“Daniel Hernandez has always stood shoulder to shoulder with working people, and that’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Congress. As a proud advocate for unions and a proven fighter for rail workers’ rights and safety, Daniel understands the challenges our members face every day. BLET Division 28 is proud to support Daniel because we know he’ll never back down when it comes to protecting good union jobs and investing in the future of American rail.”
Daniel Hernandez responded to the endorsement:
“I’m honored to have the support of the rail workers who keep Arizona and our country moving. BLET members know what it means to put in long hours, face tough conditions, and still show up for their communities every single day. In Congress, I’ll always have their backs—fighting for stronger protections, better pay, and the dignity every worker deserves.”
