International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12 Pulls Lever For Daniel Hernandez

May 13, 2025

Tucson, Arizona – Today, Daniel Hernandez earned the endorsement of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12.

Hernandez is a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives and former President of the Sunnyside School Board. As a member of the Arizona State House, he was a strong advocate for working people and union members and is a proud card-carrying member of the American Federation of Teachers Local 8002.

In Congress, Hernandez will support ending “right to work” laws and work to pass the bipartisan PRO Act, which aims to strengthen labor protections. He will also fight to overturn Trump’s pause on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s authority to set safety standards that protect workers from extreme heat and other dangerous conditions.

David Sikorski, Business Manager and General Vice-President released the following statement:

“The International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12 is proud to endorse Daniel Hernandez for Congress. Daniel has always stood in solidarity with workers and understands that strong unions build a strong middle class. He’s a tireless advocate for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right to organize—values that Operating Engineers fight for every day. In Washington, we know Daniel will be a champion for working families and an unwavering voice for labor.”
