Tucson, Arizona – Daniel Hernandez, a former School Board member, State Representative, and gun violence survivor seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress in AZ-07, earned the endorsements of local leaders representing the City of Nogales: Vice-Mayor Hector Bojorquez and Councilwoman Esther Melendez-Lopez.
The City of Nogales sits on the Arizona-Mexico border and is a major border point of entry for the state.
Hernandez’s campaign continues to gain momentum with new endorsements from officials and organizations at the federal, state, and local levels.
Vice-Mayor Hector Bojorquez released the following statement:
“As a member of the City Council in Nogales, I see every day how immigration shapes our community and is a lived experience. Daniel Hernandez understands this deeply because it’s part of his family’s story too. He knows the system is broken, and he’s committed to fixing it with common-sense reforms that treat people with dignity while keeping our border secure. I trust Daniel to be a fierce advocate for our community in Congress, and I’m proud to support him.”
Councilwoman Esther Melendez-Lopez released the following statement:
“As a border community, Nogales residents know the border is a lifeline. Families come here seeking opportunity, and goods cross daily, driving our local and national economy. But with new tariffs and outdated policies, that balance is at risk. Daniel Hernandez understands that smarter policy decisions go hand-in-hand with a secure and efficient border. He’s the kind of leader who will fight for our families and our future.”
